Get the No Gi Triangle from Closed Guard

Fight 2 Win athlete and BJJ brown belt Adam Carcione works from closed guard and shows us the no gi triangle that works for him

A no gi triangle differs from the triangle in the gi, as there is no sleeve for you to grab hold of. You need to think differently and use a slightly different technique. Here, BJJ brown belt Adam Carcione, training out of Ocean Beach Brazilian Jiu-jitsu in San Diego, shows us his way of getting to the no gi triangle from closed guard.

Starting with your opponent in you closed guard, you need to grab hold of both of their wrists, holding the tight to your chest. You then hip escape out bringing your knee over your opponent’s elbow, trapping it in place. At the same time, you pull their opposite arm towards you, do a hip switch and throw your leg over your ankle, placing your opponent in a no gi triangle. Make sure to flex both feet towards the ceiling and push your knee down to the floor.

You can either finish with their arm where it is, or pull it across.

Adam is rocking the Revgear Shield rash guard, BJJ Spats and Spartan III Pro shorts. For more great techniques tune into Revgear University here on Revgear Sports or visit our YouTube channel for the latest from the BJJ community.
