Young Revgear Fighter Trevor “Mongo” Phillips
Jun 22nd 2009
Trevor Philips is 16 years old and lives in Orleans, Indiana.
Trevor’s dad is a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, so Trevor started learning Tae Kwon Do and self-defense at home when he was 7. Trevor’s favorite grappling styles are Brazilian Ju Jitsu and American style wrestling. His favorite stand-up style is by far Muay Thai.
Trevor is 6 ft 2 inches and 190 pounds, and his grappling record is already 25-5 with 15 submissions. Trevor describes his style as aggressive, but patient. He waits for his opponents to make a mistake, and then he attacks. Trevor can submit off his back and on top, so he’s comfortable in winning from any position!
When Trevor was 14 years old, he defeated a 19 year old Judo fighter. He also won the NAGA Intermediate 15-17 age group when he was 14. He also took the Midwest Advanced Title last fall in Gi and No-Gi. He successfully defended his Midwest No-Gi Title twice, took back his Gi Title in his last fight with submission in 42 seconds.
Right now Trevor is getting ready for his next competition in Las Vegas on July 11, 2009. He wants to bring home 2 if not 3 titles!
Revgear believes in you, Trevor!
