Tim O’Connell, Revgear Sponsored Fighter

Mar 12th 2009

Tim O’Connell, 19, is from Wakefield, Rhode Island. He started his MMA training at the age of 12 when he began wrestling until the age of 16. Then he started boxing, and at 17 he discovered Jiu-Jitsu. Unlike most people who do Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu because of a desire to compete in MMA, Tim actually had no idea what MMA was until he began BJJ.

But once he found out he immediately knew it was for him. Tim got his blue belt in BJJ in about a year. Currently he trains at LA Boxing in North Attleboro Mass and Tim Burrills BJJ in North Providence, RI. As a job Tim teaches BJJ at LA Boxing. His hero is Eddie Bravo, and he’s a huge fan of the rubber guard and the twister both of which he uses frequently.

Tim won his first fight in 29 seconds by armbar. In his second fight he dominated until an unfortunate loss of footing which resulted with Tim’s getting mounted. But he’s looking for redemption in April, and he is the heavy favorite. Revgear wishes you luck, Tim!
